Early career and acting

Janis began working as a performer in the mid-20th century and accumulated credits in motion pictures and television. On television he reached a wide audience as Frederick McConnell, the father of Mindy McConnell, on the popular sitcom Mork & Mindy, which featured Robin Williams in the title role.
