Charles F. Bolden Jr. is an American former astronaut, Marine aviator and government official who served as the 12th Administrator of NASA from 2009 to 2017. Born in 1946, Bolden graduated from the United States Naval Academy and trained as a naval aviator. He flew combat missions during the Vietnam War and later served as a test pilot.
