Alberto Rómulo

Early political service and transition role

Rómulo entered national politics as an elected member of the Regular Batasang Pambansa representing Quezon City in 1984. In the aftermath of the 1986 EDSA People Power uprising he joined the transitional government and was named interim Minister of the Budget under President Corazon Aquino. That transitional role placed him at the center of efforts to restore fiscal and administrative stability after a period of political upheaval.

Senate career

Rómulo was elected to the restored Senate in 1987 and served until 1998. During those three consecutive terms he held leadership posts, including a multi-year stint as Senate Majority Leader. Later cabinet and advisory roles

After his time in the Senate Rómulo returned to executive service. He continued to be called upon for advisory and administrative functions during subsequent presidencies, including the period of President Benigno S. Aquino III, reflecting his long-standing presence in public life.
