Yellow Medicine County is a county in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It takes its name from the Yellow Medicine River, a local waterway whose English name reflects a Dakota phrase for a yellow-colored medicinal plant found in the area. As of the 2010 census the county population was 10,438. The county seat is Granite Falls, which serves as the principal governmental and service center for the surrounding rural communities.
