Vincent Matthew Darius, OP (6 September 1955 – 26 April 2016), was a Grenadian Roman Catholic prelate who served as the bishop of the Diocese of Saint George's in Grenada from 2002 until his passing in 2016.
Early life and priesthood
Darius was born in the village of Crochu on 6 September 1955. He entered religious life as a member of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) and was ordained to the priesthood on 28 June 1987. During his years as a priest he served in various pastoral and administrative roles within the local church before his episcopal appointment.
Episcopal ministry
In 2002 he was raised to the episcopate and became the bishop of Saint George's in Grenada. He led the diocese for nearly fourteen years, overseeing pastoral programmes, clergy formation, and parish activities across the island until his death.
Death
Darius died of cancer in Bellevue, New York on 26 April 2016. He was 60 years old.
