The Waitresses were an American rock band from Akron, Ohio.
The Waitresses began in 1978 as an experimental solo project by guitarist Chris Butler. In 1980, the band formed after singer Patty Donahue and other musicians, including Billy Ficca from Television, joined the project. They played their first concert on December 31, 1980 in New York City. Bassist David Hofstra was replaced by Tracy Wormworth in 1982. In 1983 the Waitresses disbanded.
Their most famous song is the hit Christmas Wrapping from 1981.
Singer Patty Donahue died of lung cancer in 1996.
