The Waitresses were an American experimental new wave music group. They were from Akron, Ohio. The group formed in the early 1980s. Their song I Know What Boys Like was released in 1980 but did not chart until 1982. They also represented the theme song for the television series Square Pegs in 1982-1983. The group broke up in 1984. Their lead singer died due to lung cancer in 1996.
