Weber’s work with the group combined rock, cabaret and performance art. Although much of the band’s reputation rests on its live shows, Drahdiwaberl also achieved commercial success. Several albums, notably Psychoterror, MC Ronalds Massaker and Werwolfromantik, reached the Austrian Top Ten album charts; each sold in excess of 30,000 copies and Psychoterror was certified Gold in Austria. The group’s most widely recognized single was a collaboration with actor and cabaret artist Lukas Resetarits: the song "Lonely", which peaked at number four on the Austrian Single charts.

Weber led Drahdiwaberl for decades, turning the band into a fixture of Vienna’s alternative music scene. The ensemble is often described as a Viennese institution for its role in challenging social norms and blending popular music with theatrical protest. Weber’s background as an educator and visual artist gave the group a distinctive identity that influenced younger performers in Austria’s punk, rock and cabaret communities.

The group is commonly referred to as a Viennese band in accounts of Austrian pop culture, and various biographies and press pieces note Weber’s dual standing as both an educator and a provocateur. He remained a polarizing but respected figure until his death in Vienna on 7 June 2018 at the age of 71.
