Semnan (pronounced [semˈnɒːn]; Persian: سمنان, also Romanized as Semnān and Samnān) is a city in and capital of Semnan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 124,999, in 36,298 families. Semnan is located 216 kilometers east of Tehran.
