Robert Michael Archibald (29 March 1980 – 23 January 2020) was a British professional basketball player. He was known for playing both as a power forward and as a centre during his career.
Professional career
Archibald reached the NBA roster between 2002 and 2004, appearing for several teams over those seasons. His time in the league included stints with the Memphis Grizzlies, the Phoenix Suns, the Orlando Magic and the Toronto Raptors.
After leaving the NBA in 2004, he continued his professional career in Europe. He played for clubs including Valencia, Scavolini Pesaro, Joventut Badalona, Azovmash Mariupol, Unicaja Málaga and CAI Zaragoza, representing several top domestic leagues and European competitions.
Later life and death
Archibald retired from professional play and remained a noted figure in British basketball circles. He died on 23 January 2020 at the age of 39.
