The Puthia Temple Complex is a compact group of important Hindu temples and associated buildings in Puthia Upazila, situated in Rajshahi Division of Bangladesh. Located about 23 km east of Rajshahi city, the site contains the largest number of historic temples in the country and is prized for its architectural variety and decorative terracotta work.
Architecture and notable monuments
The complex brings together several temple types found in Bengali religious architecture. Distinguishing features include richly carved terracotta panels, multi-roofed "chala" forms that recall rural house roofs, and towered "ratna" structures. Brick masonry and stucco finish are common, with many façades illustrating scenes from Hindu epics, daily life, and floral motifs.
