Composition and officers

The Assembly comprises a total of 65 seats: 51 general seats filled by direct elections, 11 reserved seats for women and 3 seats reserved for non-Muslims. These reserved seats are allocated to political parties in proportion to their share of the general seats. Key officers of the house include the Speaker and Deputy Speaker who preside over sittings, and the Chief Minister who is usually chosen from the majority party to head the provincial government.
