Structure and membership

The Assembly currently comprises 371 seats in total. That number includes general seats filled by direct elections as well as reserved seats: 66 seats for women and eight for non-Muslims. Members serve for a five-year term unless the Assembly is dissolved earlier. The Assembly elects a Speaker to preside over proceedings and the majority party or coalition selects the Chief Minister, who heads the provincial executive.
