Awans is a Belgian municipality in the Walloon region. It is located in the province of Liège in the arrondissement of Liège.

The municipality has 9318 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2019) and an area of 27.16 km².

Awans is located in the Liège agglomeration just over eight kilometres northwest of the city centre. The Dutch city of Maastricht lies 25 km to the north-northeast, Namur 46 km to the southwest and Brussels 75 km to the northwest.

The nearest motorway exits are Hognoul in the north on the Belgian A3/E40 motorway and Bierset in the south on the A15/E42. Liège is the nearest railway station of supra-regional importance; fast trains such as the Thalys on the Paris/Oostende-Liège-Aachen-Cologne route also stop here. The nearest regional airport is Liège, only a few kilometres south of the municipality; there is an international airport near Brussels.
