Academic programs and activities

The college’s curriculum combines general education, major coursework and required Bible/theology classes. Common areas of study include education, theology/ministry, business, music and media. PCC operates traditional day and evening courses on campus and provides distance learning options for some programs. Student work often includes practicums, teaching labs and ministry placements intended to prepare graduates for service in Christian ministry, education and outreach.

Campus life and community standards

PCC is known for a disciplined campus culture shaped by religious convictions. Students follow a code of conduct that governs dress, behavior, and social activities; the college also schedules regular chapel services and Bible study times. Housing, student organizations and campus events are organized to support the institution’s stated spiritual and educational goals.

History and publishing

Arlin Horton established the college in 1974; over time the institution grew to include a K–12 academy and a publishing arm that produces classroom materials under the Abeka (sometimes styled A Beka) imprint. These textbooks and curricular resources are widely used in Christian schools and homeschooling communities.

Accreditation and reputation

PCC is accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS), an accreditor recognized by U.S. higher education authorities; the college reported TRACS accreditation beginning in 2013. As an Independent Baptist college, PCC is distinct from regionally affiliated public universities and maintains specialized academic and spiritual priorities that appeal to students seeking a conservative Christian environment.
