On 13 March 2005 it merged with the neighboring municipalities of Breno, Arosio, Fescoggia and Vezio to create the new municipality of Alto Malcantone. This consolidation was part of a wider Swiss practice of combining small municipalities to improve administrative efficiency and public services.
