Arzana (Àrthana) — town and comune in Nuoro, Sardinia

Arzana (Sardinian: Àrthana) is a mountain town and comune in the Province of Nuoro on the island of Sardinia, Italy. According to 2016 figures the population was about 2,433. The municipal territory covers 162.49 km² and the main settlement sits at approximately 672 metres above sea level, giving the area a cool, mountainous climate compared with Sardinia's coast.

Geographically, Arzana occupies part of the rugged interior of central-eastern Sardinia, with a mix of wooded slopes, pastureland and rocky ridges. Its position makes it a local centre for small-scale agriculture, grazing and forestry while also offering access to hiking and nature observation in nearby upland areas.

Human presence in the area dates back to prehistoric times: like many parts of Sardinia, the territory around Arzana shows traces of Nuragic civilization and later medieval settlement patterns. Over centuries the community developed around pastoralism and small hamlets; in modern times it functions as an administrative municipality within the Nuoro province.
