Overview
Lowndes County is a county located in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Mississippi. At the time of the 2010 census the county had a population of 59,779. Its administrative center and largest city is the county seat, Columbus. The county takes its name from U.S. Congressman William Jones Lowndes.
