Overview

Kairshasp Nariman Choksy (7 February 1933 – 5 February 2015), commonly known as K. N. Choksy, was a Sri Lankan lawyer and politician. He combined a long legal career with more than two decades in public office, serving as a Member of Parliament and holding senior cabinet posts. He was appointed a President's Counsel in recognition of his standing at the Bar.

Choksy trained and practised as an advocate and was widely respected for his work in civil and commercial law. He came from a Parsi family established in Sri Lanka and became prominent in legal circles before entering national politics. His professional reputation provided a foundation for later public roles where legal expertise was often required.

Political career and offices

Choksy served in the Parliament of Sri Lanka from 1989 to 2010. Over that period he was appointed to a number of ministerial assignments. His principal cabinet roles included:
