Jørgen Kosmo — Norwegian politician and auditor (1947–2017)

Early and local political career

Kosmo began his political career in local government. He was a member of the municipal council of Horten from 1979 to 1985 and served the municipality as mayor during the final two years of that period. That municipal experience gave him practical insight into local administration and public services, which later informed his work at the national level.

Parliamentary and ministerial service

Kosmo was a Member of the Storting for 20 years. During his parliamentary career he served in the executive branch as Minister of Defence from 1993 to 1997 and as Minister of Labour and Government Administration from 2000 to 2001.
