Jaime Ortí Ruiz (24 January 1947 – 24 November 2017) was a Spanish football executive and broadcaster. Born in Aldaya, Spain, he became known for his involvement with Valencia Club de Fútbol and for a long career as a sports commentator in the Valencian media.

Career

Ortí worked as a businessman in the sporting world and held leadership responsibilities at Valencia C.F., serving in the club's executive team and at times taking on the role of president. Outside the club, he was a familiar voice on Valencian television, providing commentary and analysis for the regional broadcaster Canal Nou.

He has also been widely credited with popularising the term Galácticos to describe the star-studded Real Madrid squads of the early 2000s, a label that entered common use in Spanish and international football coverage.

Death

Ortí died in Valencia on 24 November 2017 after a battle with lung cancer. He was 70 years old.
