Jack D. Shanstrom (November 30, 1932 – January 13, 2020) was an American lawyer and judge who served on the federal bench in Montana. He was a United States District Judge for the District of Montana, appointed in 1990 and serving in that role until 2001.
Background and career
Shanstrom was born in Hewitt, Minnesota. Before his appointment to the federal judiciary he practiced law and was active in public affairs. In 1990 he received a nomination from President George H. W. Bush to the United States District Court for the District of Montana and began his service on the court that year.
Personal details and death
Shanstrom died on January 13, 2020, at the age of 87. The cause was complications related to Parkinson's disease. He passed away in Palm Desert, California.
