Early life and name
Carrizo was born in the town of General Villegas, in Buenos Aires Province. He adopted the professional name Antonio Carrizo while building his career in broadcasting. Little of his early private life is routinely cited in broad-reference sources, but his trajectory from provincial origins to national media illustrates a common mid-century path for Argentine presenters who moved to Buenos Aires to work in radio and television.
Radio and television career
Carrizo was associated with influential Argentine radio outlets, including Radio El Mundo and Radio Rivadavia, where his programs mixed interviews, music and cultural commentary. On television he hosted shows on public and commercial channels — including programs broadcast through Canal 7 — becoming known for a courteous interviewing style and clear diction. His work helped shape the role of the presenter as both conversation facilitator and cultural mediator in Argentine broadcasting.
Acting and film appearances
In addition to his broadcasting work, Carrizo appeared in several Argentine films, often in character roles or as himself. Notable appearances include El barro humano (1955), El noveno mandamiento (1963) and Muchachos impacientes (1966). In later life Carrizo experienced health problems; he suffered a stroke in 2008 that affected his public activity and is recorded in contemporary accounts of his life (medical report summary).
