Humberto Vicente Castagna (June 11, 1942 – October 15, 2019), known professionally as Cacho Castaña, was an Argentine singer-songwriter, composer and actor. He became a well-known figure in Argentina’s popular music scene and was often associated with tango and canción popular.
Career
Castaña wrote and performed songs, composed for other artists, and appeared on stage and screen. Among his acting credits is the 2000 film Merry Christmas, in which he had a notable role. His songwriting included pieces that became widely recognised in Argentina, such as Los Hijos de López and El Cabo Tijereta.
Personal life and death
Castaña was born in Buenos Aires. He died in that city on October 15, 2019, at the age of 77, from complications related to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
