If is an R&B ballad performed by Beyoncé Knowles. It was issued as the final single connected to the deluxe edition of her second studio album, B'Day: Deluxe Edition.

Background

The track was originally part of international editions of the album and was not included on the initial U.S. pressing. After the British singer Des'ree raised a legal objection concerning Beyoncé's recording of "Kissing You" (released on the album as "Still in Love (Kissing You)"), the album's U.S. configuration was changed and "If" was added in its place.

Release and availability

A CD single of "If" was produced for members of Beyoncé's official fan club and was offered through the club's online store. The single was thus made available to fans via that channel rather than through a wide commercial physical release in some markets.
