Geography and climate

Grant County is located on the High Plains, a broadly flat region of shortgrass prairie. The terrain is generally level to gently rolling, and the climate is semi-arid with hot summers and cold winters. Much of the county depends on groundwater from the Ogallala Aquifer for irrigation. At the 2010 census the county recorded 7,829 residents.
