Gamal El-Ghitani (1945–2015) was an Egyptian writer known for historical and political novels, cultural commentary, and for leading the literary weekly Akhbar Al-Adab from 2011 until his death.

Gamal El-Ghitani (9 May 1945 – 18 October 2015) was a prominent Egyptian writer and cultural commentator. He produced a body of work that combined historical imagination with contemporary political observation, and he played a visible role in Egyptian literary journalism. Later in life he served as editor-in-chief of the literary periodical Akhbar Al-Adab; he remained at its helm from 2011 until his death.
