Constituent communities and layout

Filderstadt was formed in 1975 through the administrative merger of five formerly independent communities. These component localities retain distinct village cores and local identities:

• Plattenhardt
• Sielmingen
• Harthausen

The town combines suburban neighbourhoods with agricultural land on the Filder plain; parks and small commercial centres are distributed across the former villages.
