Doug Atkins

Early life and college

Atkins attended the University of Tennessee, where he played under the influential coach Robert Neyland. At Tennessee he developed a reputation for physical play and relentless effort, traits that attracted attention from professional teams. His accomplishments at the collegiate level were later recognized with induction into the College Football Hall of Fame, reflecting both his individual skill and his contribution to a successful program.

Professional career
