Overview
The Chilean Army serves as the principal land component of Chile’s armed forces. It combines professional soldiers and short-term service members to carry out national defense and support missions.
Established personnel figures put the force at about 45,000 people. Of these, roughly 12,400 are conscripted personnel, who serve for a limited period alongside career soldiers and officers.
Modernization and equipment
Over recent decades the service has pursued modernization programs and organizational reforms, becoming noted in the region for its focus on innovation and technological capability. These efforts include procurement, training updates, and adoption of new operational methods.
