Bururi Province, Burundi

Geography and environment

Bururi occupies a hilly to mountainous portion of southern Burundi. Elevations and a relatively wet climate support montane forests and small rivers. The Bururi Forest Nature Reserve, a protected area within the province, preserves patches of montane vegetation and supports diverse plant and bird life. The Ruvyironza River has its source in the province and contributes to the local watershed.
