Sir Michael Philip "Mick" Jagger (born 26 July 1943) is an English musician and public figure whose career has spanned more than six decades. He is widely identified as the lead singer and founding frontman of the Rolling Stones, and is also known for his work as a songwriter, a record producer and occasional actor. In recognition of his influence on popular music he was knighted in 2003.

Early life and rise

Born in Dartford, Kent, Jagger studied at the London School of Economics briefly before committing to music. He met guitarist Keith Richards in the early 1960s; their partnership as the songwriting team often billed as Jagger–Richards helped establish the Rolling Stones in the British rhythm and blues scene. The band moved from blues covers to original material and became a leading force in the global rock movement.

Artistic style and stagecraft

Jagger is noted for a distinctive, wide-ranging voice and a highly energetic stage persona. His performances combine dancing, theatrical moves and fashion that draws on American blues, soul and rock traditions. The band's visual identity, including an iconic tongue-and-lips logo developed in the early 1970s, contributed to Jagger's status as a cultural symbol.

Work beyond the band

Alongside his work with the Stones, Jagger has released solo albums, collaborated with other artists and appeared in films. His acting credits are limited but notable, and he has taken an active role in producing recordings and occasional film projects. These activities underline his role as a multifaceted creative figure rather than solely a band frontman.
