Blas Calzada Terrados (8 June 1937 – 17 February 2018) was a Spanish economist and public official notable for leadership roles in national statistics and financial market regulation. Born in Valladolid, he became a prominent figure in Spain's economic institutions during the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Career and public offices
Calzada Terrados served as Chairman of the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) from 1977 to 1979, a period that overlapped with Spain's transition toward democratic governance and required reliable public statistics for policy making. Decades later he was appointed President of the Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV), Spain's securities market regulator, serving from 2001 to 2004. These two roles placed him at the intersection of economic information, regulation and market supervision.
