Harry Mark Judd (born 23 December 1985 in Chelmsford, Essex) is an English musician and public figure best known as the drummer for the pop-rock band McFly. Since McFly's emergence in the early 2000s he has been a central performer in the group's studio recordings, live shows and music videos. Judd is widely recognised both for his energetic drumming style and for branching into television and charity work beyond the band.
Career with McFly and related projects
McFly formed in 2003 and quickly established a presence on the UK pop scene with hit singles and chart-topping albums. As McFly's drummer, Judd contributed to the rhythmic backbone of early hits such as "5 Colours in Her Hair" and "Obviously," and he has appeared in videos and collaborative projects connected with contemporaries in the British pop-rock world. In later years he also took part in the collaborative supergroup McBusted, which brought members of McFly and Busted together for touring and recording.
Television and public profile
Outside of band work, Judd increased his public profile by taking part in popular television. He competed on the BBC dance competition Strictly Come Dancing and won the series in 2011 with his professional partner. That appearance expanded his audience and led to further media opportunities, including guest appearances and interviews on music and entertainment programmes.
Style, influences and public activities
Judd's drumming is often described as lively and melodic, suited to the catchy, guitar-driven pop-rock sound McFly is known for. Beyond performance, he has been involved with charitable efforts and public appearances tied to music education and youth causes, using his platform to support awareness campaigns and benefit concerts.
Personal life
Judd is married to Izzy Johnston, a violinist who has worked with a variety of touring ensembles; the couple married after a long-term relationship and keep much of their family life private. Judd continues to balance work with McFly alongside selective media and charity projects.
