Overview

Fábio Rochemback (born 10 December 1981) is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played mainly as a central or defensive midfielder. He came to prominence in Brazil before moving to Europe, where he represented clubs in Spain, England and Portugal. He also earned appearances for the Brazil national team at senior level.

Club career

Rochemback began his career in his native Brazil with Sport Club Internacional, progressing through the club's youth ranks into the first team. His performances attracted interest from Europe and he signed for a major Spanish club early in his career. After a spell in Spain he transferred to an English Premier League club where he became one of a small group of Brazilian players in that league at the time and helped the side capture a domestic cup trophy.

Following his time in England he continued his career in Portugal with Sporting CP and later returned to play in Brazil and elsewhere as his professional career wound down. International career

Rochemback represented Brazil at senior level on multiple occasions and was part of national team selections during his peak years in Europe. Rochemback is remembered for blending defensive duties with a rare goal threat from outside the area, and for being one of the more prominent Brazilians to play in the English top flight during his era.
