Enrique Barón Crespo (born 27 March 1944 in Madrid) is a Spanish politician, economist and lawyer associated with the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE). He is best known for his long service in the European Parliament, where he represented Spain as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) until 2009 and sat with the Party of European Socialists.

Political career and offices

Barón's public career spans national and European institutions. In the early 1980s he served in the Spanish government as Minister of Transport, Tourism and Communications, and subsequently moved to European politics. After election to the European Parliament he held several senior posts, combining parliamentary leadership with committee work and group chairmanships.
