Donald Sternoff Beyer Jr. (born June 20, 1950) is an American businessman, diplomat and Democratic politician. He has represented Virginia's 8th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2015; the district includes Arlington, Alexandria and nearby suburbs of Washington, D.C. As a public figure he is known for combining a private-sector background with posts in diplomatic and elected office. He served as U.S. Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein from 2009 to 2013 during the administration of President Barack Obama.
