Blake James Wheeler (born August 31, 1986) is an American professional ice hockey right winger. Over a long career he has been a regular scorer and a veteran leader at the top levels of the sport.
Professional overview
Wheeler has spent the bulk of his career in the National Hockey League, appearing with the Atlanta Thrashers and the same franchise after it became the Winnipeg Jets, and he later joined the Boston Bruins. He also had a spell in Germany playing for EHC München of the DEL.
Playing style and leadership
Known for his size, playmaking ability and work along the boards, Wheeler has been valued both for point production and for veteran presence in the dressing room. During his time with the Winnipeg organization he served as a team leader and was entrusted with captaincy duties.
