Ayub Bachchu (16 August 1962 – 18 October 2018) was a Bangladeshi guitarist, singer and songwriter. His name is written in Bengali as আইয়ুব বাচ্চু. Bachchu played a leading role in shaping modern rock music in Bangladesh and is best known as the founder and frontman of the band LRB (Love Runs Blind).

Career

Bachchu began his professional music career in the 1970s and 1980s, performing with several bands before coming to wider public attention. He was an early member of the group Feelings and later worked as the lead guitarist for Souls. In the 1990s he formed LRB, which became one of the country's most recognized rock bands. Over several decades he released music as a solo artist and with his bands, combining blues and rock influences with Bangla songwriting.

Musical style and influence

As a guitarist and composer, Bachchu was noted for his melodic solos and for introducing guitar-driven rock sounds into mainstream Bangla popular music. Musicians and fans in Bangladesh frequently cite him as a major influence on subsequent generations of rock performers.

Death

Ayub Bachchu died of a heart attack on 18 October 2018 at Square Hospital in Dhaka. He was 56 years old.
