Thanet District
Thanet is a district in the county of Kent in England. It covers an area on the Thames Estuary known as the Isle of Thanet. The administrative centre is Margate; other significant towns include Birchington-on-Sea, Broadstairs, Manston, Ramsgate and Westgate-on-Sea.
The Borough was formed on 1 April 1974, resulting from the amalgamation of the Municipal Boroughs of Margate and Ramsgate, the Urban District of Broadstairs and St Peter's and part of the Rural District of Eastry.
