Established in the mid-20th century, TAROM developed from earlier national aviation enterprises into a modern scheduled airline. The airline's operations are centred on Bucharest’s main international airport, commonly known as Otopeni Airport, near Bucharest. From there TAROM serves numerous European capitals, regional centres and seasonal services; its network combines regular scheduled routes and occasional charter or cargo flights.
