Stellan Bojerud (5 August 1944 – 19 July 2015) was a Swedish military officer and politician. He combined a long career in the armed forces with later involvement in party politics, and served in the Riksdag as a representative of the Sweden Democrats. His public profile reflected both his military background and a trajectory across more than one party within Sweden’s centre‑right and right-wing spectrum. Stellan Bojerud is therefore often noted for the shift from uniformed service to parliamentary politics.

Military career and background

Bojerud reached the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Swedish military. While details of his service record are not broadly publicized in civilian summaries, his rank indicates senior command and staff responsibilities typical of officers who later engage in public policy debates, particularly on defence and security matters. His military experience helped shape his political interests after retiring from active service.

Political career

Before joining the Sweden Democrats, Bojerud had been affiliated with other Swedish parties on the centre-right, including the Moderate Party and the Centre Party. He later became a member of the Sweden Democrats (Sweden Democrats), a nationalist and right‑wing populist party that grew in electoral support during the 2000s and 2010s.

In the 2010 parliamentary election Bojerud appeared on the Sweden Democrats’ candidate list (placed 22nd). He served temporarily as a member of the Riksdag in 2010–2011 when he replaced Julia Kronlid during her parental leave. In 2012, following the death of William Petzäll, who had been elected on the Sweden Democrats’ list, Bojerud re-entered the Riksdag as a full member and participated in parliamentary work until later developments in his political career.

Roles, interests and legacy

In parliament Bojerud was seen as a representative whose experience lent weight to discussions of defence, veterans’ issues and public order; these are areas where former military officers often focus their contributions. He is also remembered for having moved between parties, illustrating the personal and political realignments that can occur in Swedish politics.
