Overview

Line 10 (commonly L10) is one of the two branches of the integrated L9/L10 project in Barcelona's metro network. Conceived as part of a major extension, L10 shares a central trunk with Line 9 before splitting to serve different corridors. The line is designed to connect new and existing neighbourhoods, improve cross-city travel and link residential areas with industrial and port zones.

Construction and development

Construction of L10 has proceeded in phases due to technical complexity, urban constraints and funding considerations. Building deep stations in built-up areas required careful engineering to manage ground conditions and to minimize disruption. The project has been developed over many years with sequential openings rather than a single launch, allowing parts of the line to enter service as work continued elsewhere.
