Career and major projects

Brylewski helped establish a number of important bands across related but distinct genres. He co-founded Kryzys, one of the early punk outfits, and later formed Brygada Kryzys together with Tomasz Lipiński, a group often associated with the post-punk and new wave currents of the early 1980s. He also led or co-created Izrael, which brought reggae influences into the Polish scene, and Armia, known for blending rock with poetic and sometimes spiritual themes.

Across his projects Brylewski served as a guitarist, vocalist and principal songwriter. Death and aftermath

In June 2018 Brylewski was the victim of an assault that led to severe injuries and left him in a coma. He died in Warsaw on 3 June 2018 at the age of 57. His death provoked public discussion about violence and prompted memorials from peers, journalists and fans.
