Puurs — former municipality in Antwerp Province, Belgium

Constituent communities

The former municipality comprised several population centres and smaller settlements. The principal communities were:

History

Like many towns in this part of Flanders, Puurs has medieval origins and developed through agricultural activity and local trade. Fort Breendonk and notable sites

One of the most widely known sites in the former municipality is the Fort van Breendonk.
