Polymer banknote
Banknotes printed on polymer (plastic) film rather than paper. Durable, water-resistant and harder to counterfeit, polymer notes were first introduced in Australia and are now used by many countries.
Polymer banknotes are currency notes manufactured from a plastic film instead of traditional cotton-fibre paper. Printing may combine offset, intaglio and screen processes, with varnishes and coatings applied to protect the surface and control gloss.
