Maarkedal is a rural municipality in the Flemish Region of Belgium. It lies within the province of East Flanders and is administered as a municipality Maarkedal. The area is part of the Belgian state Belgium and specifically the province of East Flanders. The locality's coordinates are 50°49′N, 3°39′E. Official counts have recorded a population of about 6,460 inhabitants in 2007; as a small municipality its population tends to be concentrated in village centers and to change modestly over time.
