History and development

The settlement pattern in the Anzegem area dates back to the medieval period, when village life revolved around agriculture and parish churches. Over the 19th and 20th centuries, industrial activity and improved transport changed parts of the local economy, while two world wars left traces in the landscape and community memory. Traditional buildings and churches reflect the long local history.

Economy, culture and amenities

Local economic life blends agriculture, small and medium enterprises, and services that support residents. Cultural life includes village festivals, community associations and recreational amenities such as walking and cycling routes through the countryside.
