Amor asteroids typically pass just beyond Earth’s orbital zone, so they can be important objects for tracking and classification even when they do not present an immediate collision threat. In practice, the Amor group is often discussed alongside the Apollo and Aten asteroid classes. The difference lies mainly in orbital geometry: Apollos and Atens cross Earth’s orbit in different ways, while Amors generally remain just outside it. This simple distinction helps astronomers organize large asteroid catalogs and focus attention on objects whose paths may change over time.
