Life and career

Singh completed his master's degree in Hindi at the University of Allahabad and later served there as a teacher and assistant professor until his retirement in 1994. His academic role helped shape several generations of Hindi readers and writers. He also worked as an editor and literary critic, contributing to the discourse around contemporary Hindi prose and poetry. In 2014 the Government of Uttar Pradesh honored him with the Bharat Bharti Samman in recognition of his contribution to literature.
