The squad is drawn largely from the domestic Premier Division and from Dominican players based in other Caribbean nations or lower-tier leagues abroad. Coaching staff typically combine local knowledge with outside experience. The DFA also runs youth teams and development programs intended to widen the player pool and improve coaching standards.
Competitions and record
Dominica competes in FIFA World Cup qualifying, the CONCACAF Nations League, Caribbean championships and other regional tournaments. While the team has yet to reach a FIFA World Cup finals or a CONCACAF Gold Cup, it has had competitive moments in Caribbean qualifying rounds and occasional advances in regional competitions.
- FIFA World Cup qualifiers: regular participant in preliminary rounds
- CONCACAF Nations League: platform for competitive fixtures and promotion/relegation
- Caribbean Cup and regional events: primary arena for rivalries and development
Home matches are most often played in Roseau at venues used for both cricket and football, with Windsor Park serving as a common stadium for larger fixtures. Limited infrastructure and the island's small population present challenges in expanding domestic leagues and resources.
Like many small island teams, Dominica faces obstacles such as funding, player retention and the effects of natural disasters on facilities. Efforts by the DFA, local clubs and international partners focus on grassroots development, coach education and youth pathways to strengthen future national teams.
Notable aspects include the team's role in national identity and sport participation on the island. Matches offer opportunities for local talent to gain exposure and for football to contribute to community cohesion and international representation.
